Hearing voices can be very frustrating and distracting, causing people to struggle with focus and concentration on their external world and the relationships that they have with others.
Don´t give up!
It may be worth trying out different strategies, tips and hints to manage critical or challenging voices more effectively.
Finding helpful and useful information can inspire self management.
Being able to talk about what it feels like with others can also be incredibly helpful.
Remember that some people learn to cope well with challenging voice hearing experiences and I include some helpful tips and hints on this page from this community of wisdom and lived experience.
In my own learning and experience, medication can be helpful, but reliance on medication alone might also limit recovery outcomes when there is so much more that can be done to supplement and strengthen individual recovery and living more fully.
And it is because we know that some voice hearers CAN cope well with challenging voices, that these experiences are drawn on here in order to help and inspire others.
